This is the new body of work. Each selection is produced in editions of ten with each print having its own unique qualities. No two prints will be the same, the process does not allow for it. No digital methods are employed; each print is created in a traditional darkroom utilizing non-traditional techniques. I have decided to price these works at fifty dollars per print with the idea that art should be affordable.
This new series of work is concerned with portraying the fragile state of the American psyche in this new post-economic collapse era of information. The instantaneous and aggressive dissemination of fact and opinion pressures the psyche into the formulation of an immediate reaction. This response can be cynicism, apathy or simple presumption, along with emotional states such as paranoia and fear. The demand creates further frustration and leads to greater factionalizing along class and party lines. In these prints, I utilize graphs without quantitative relevance, statistics without significant information, sentences without context, and figures without faces. In a purely visual sense, my aim is composition versus disorder; positive versus negative. Conceptually, these elements contribute to the notion of confusion and frustration in the information age.
This series of work is the progression of previous efforts. Throughout the process of my past work, I learned a great deal in how to achieve certain effects and combine them with what I had already known. As always, my goal is to engage the viewer and allow them the opportunity to interpret each piece as they see fit. Please, take a look around, sign up for new art updates and feel free to send an email letting me know what you think.
